Types & Shadows of Jesus Christ # 2 Creation; Water

In the beginning God c.r.e.a.t.e.d the heaven and the earth.

And God said, “Let there be -”

“….and it was so.”

“…and God saw that it was good.”

Some people believe in what they call The Big Bang Theory, to explain the beginning of the earth and this space of existence we call Time. The Bible has an explanation that indeed, was a big bang, and that was, “when the words, ‘Let there be – ‘ issued forth from His mouth and BANG – there was our universe, so much bigger and so much more detailed than we can even imagine.” Quote by Louie Giglio.

Science continues to unveil the awesome creation that God made when He spoke the heaven and the earth into existence but even with what we know we realize how small our comprehension of God and our universe really is.

So what does the creation of our world have to do with types and shadows of Jesus Christ?

1. The WORD of God spoke the world into existence and the WORD (St John 1:1-3) was our Savior, Jesus Christ.

2. The first thing that was created was water. Water was a type of the WORD of God throughout the Bible. (The laver in the Old Testament tabernacle is one example. It was a type of the Word of God, in which the priests dipped from for cleansing, and looked into for a mirror. There are many more instances but this is the only one I’ll mention for lack of space.)

The WORD of God is the voice of Jesus Christ, and He speaks only what He has received of the Father. (St John 14:10.) Revelation 1:15 the voice of Jesus Christ sounded like the “voice of many waters.” In Ephesians 5:26 it says that Jesus Christ gave Himself for the church, “that He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the WORD.”

3. The second thing that God created was light.

But – here I will stop for today. Come back next week for more of the types and shadows of Jesus Christ in the creation.
