In the prior posts about the types and shadows of Jesus Christ I showed two types in the Old Testament of God’s mercy and judgment which are crucial in our beliefs about Him, but in retrospect I see that I should have begun this series with the types and shadows of the Creation. However, I’m learning as I’m going and finding types and shadows where I never realized there were any. I am standing amazed to find the Gospel of Salvation written in chronological order in the six days of Creation. Hang with me a little here and correct me if I’m mistaken.
1. In my first post about the types and shadows of Jesus in the Creation we saw in Genesis 1 that water was the first thing God created. Throughout the Bible water was a type of the Word of God, particularly in the Tabernacle.
2. The second thing God created was light and throughout the Bible light is a type of Truth. (In the tabernacle the seven golden candlesticks were a type of the Holy Spirit. He always illuminates the believer with Truth.)
In a nutshell, the definition of Truth is agreement with reality. As surely as our physical world is illuminated with light, so our spiritual world is illuminated with Truth. Darkness can only dissipate when light enters the area and the only Light that dispels spiritual darkness is the Light of the World, Jesus Christ, as found in His Word, The Holy Bible.
Interestingly, the order of Creation is also the order we take to come to spiritual freedom. Notice the divine invitation, written, not in ink, but in spiritual types as God spoke the world into existence.
1. WATER, a type of the Word of God
a.) The first step to salvation is to read the Word of God, (1 John 5:13) for without the WORD (Jesus Christ) we cannot come to know the Truth (St John 20:31.)
2. LIGHT; a type of Truth
b.) The second step to salvation and freedom in Christ is to accept His Lordship in your heart, for He said, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no one comes to the Father but by Me.”
“But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name: which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. ” St. John 1:12,
All of these things are gifts from God. The Creation, His Word, the Truth as found in Christ Jesus, and the invitation to come to the saving power of Calvary.
And God said, “Let there be light:
and there was light.” Genesis 1:3
Come back next week for the third type of Christ that’s found in Creation, and the third step to the Gospel of Salvation.
