Independence Day Celebrations

Sweet Summertime

I am very thankful to be a citizen of the United States of America.

I am thankful for the many, many brave men and women who have sacrificed their lives, careers, reputations, comforts and love, to ensure that America is a land safe from monarchy and anarchy. Most of all I am grateful to the God of our fathers for sustaining our country these 236 years which were often filled with tumults, controversies, wars and tears, yet preserved by faith in our one True God, to Whom we owe all the peace, prosperity and happiness that America has also enjoyed. May we always recognize His Sovereignty over all principalities and powers and govern our lives according to the precepts set forth in His Word. Only then can our country truly be “the land of the free and home of the brave.” (The Star Spangled Banner; Francis Scott Key)

“It (Independence Day) ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forevermore.” John Adams

Only In America:

National Motto: In God We Trust

National Song: The Star Spangled Banner

National Bird: Bald Eagle

National Flower: Rose

I want to hold to the faith of my fathers. This is a photo of my grandparents and their family. My father is the smiling face between my grandfather and grandmother. This photo was taken around 1937 or ’38.
