From the very beginning it’s apparent that God created the world to shower someone with love, and that someone was you and I, and every person born into this world between the first day and the final Judgment. All that He created prior to creating humanity, (His prize creation whom He created in His own image and after His likeness,) was in preparation for fellowship. From the very start, even before mankind existed, God began to write out His Great Invitation that He would give to all people. They were great object lessons of spiritual truths written in physical things that we can see and feel and touch. We call those things types and shadows of spiritual truths. They are not spiritual in themselves, meaning they are not to be worshipped in place of God, but the are used by God as teaching aids of the true things about Himself that He wishes us to understand and accept. What I’ve been posting about in recent weeks are the types and shadows of Jesus in particular. They began in Creation, became more and more succinct and apparent throughout history, before finally becoming flesh (Jesus) to tell us in our language and through demonstrations of His life, what the Invitation is, who it’s for, how it came to be, and how we can accept it. That God orchestrated those types of Christ in perfect order throughout Creation week is one more proof of the Divine Creator. Nothing was left to chance. Nothing was done without a plan and a purpose. And nothing was done foolishly.

I found these two pieces of driftwood lying in the shape of a cross yesterday morning after high tide.
The order of Creation and their meanings were as follows:
1. Water = the Word of God as found in the Holy Bible and embodied by Jesus Christ, who was God in the flesh while here on the earth.
2. Light = Truth, found only in Jesus Christ.
3. Division of waters = the Crucifixion of Jesus as the atonement for our sins.
4. Life = eternal life, found only in Jesus Christ.
St. John 10:7-10: “I am the door of the sheep: all that ever came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them. I am the door: by Me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out and find pasture. The thief cometh not but for to steal, kill, and to destroy; I am come that they might have life and that they might have it more abundantly.”
First God created a life-sustaining environment, and then He created living things – trees and plants, fish in the seas, birds in the air, and animals on the land. Once the universe was in place and everything was ready, God created mankind and gave them dominion over the earth, to enjoy all that was made and to be the caretakers of it.
*Genesis 1:20-31, Genesis 9:2, Psalm 8:6, James 3:7
Life is a very precious thing. We love life, value it, protect it, and grieve its loss. Eternal life is even more precious and we value it even above our own lives. To lose eternal life is far more tragic than losing our physical lives because the loss of eternal life means to be separated from God spiritually. When we experience that sort of separation someone else – another spirit – Satan, the devil, takes God’s place, and his only intention is to steal, kill and destroy. If it hadn’t been for Jesus we would have no escape from the lying Satan and his dark and frightening world.
Thank God for Jesus and His willingness to endure the crucifixion in our place. St. John 3:16,17; “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” (My 2 and 3 year old grandchildren love reciting those verses.)
*Romans 3:21-26; 1John 3:8; 2Corinthians 5:8, 17-21; 1Peter 1:17 – 21; 2:21-25;
If you never remember anything else about these posts concerning types and shadows of Jesus, please remember this, that God created the universe perfectly and orderly and if we only pay attention we cannot help but see His hand in it everywhere, pointing us back to Himself through the saving blood of Jesus. He gave us every blessing available in His Heaven but forces none of them on us. We are free to choose to accept or not to accept them. We have this moment to make that decision with no promise of a later opportunity.
The steps to Eternal Life are 1.) We must accept the water of life, found in the Word of God, 2.) believe in the truth concerning His Son, Jesus Christ, 3.) accept the sacrifice that He made on the cross in our place, and, 4.) live in obedience and love. By doing so you will be returning all the love in your heart to the God of the universe who gave you all of His.

I want to give special recognition and thanks to Samuel Yoder, a relative of my mother’s (by marriage,) for coming to my assistance last week following my plea for help. I also want to thank the Holy Spirit for answering my many prayers conncerning this blog and guiding me into the way of Truth. He is magnificent and holy and He sets my heart to singing.
