When my youngest child was about three years old, really thinking and talking well, she and I were taking a slow walk down the field lane behind our house one evening. It was just past sundown and the sky was crystal clear. We were looking up at the sky as we walked, enjoying the soft colors and warm light. I asked her what she guessed our weather would be like the next day.
She looked long and hard at the clear blue sky and then replied, “I think its goin’ ta wain.”
I was surprised at her answer and asked what made her think it would rain.
She looked up at me as if she couldn’t believe I didn’t know and said, “Cuz da BURDS aw flyin to theyz NESTS!”
