What’s The Difference

between legalism and obedience?

A Study of Colossians 2 and 3:

Legalism is only a shadow of the substance of Christ.
It is false humility.
Its concerns are about commandments and doctrines of man.
It has no spiritual power.
It has a good appearance but is a self-imposed religion.

Obedience, in contrast:

stops committing sins,

and comes under the authority of the Word of God,

because Christ sits at the right hand of the Throne of God.

Obedience lovingly serves Christ, from Whom we are given our inheritance.

St. John 14:21, “He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.”
