Jeremiah Nine: Vacation Needed!

Jeremiah wept so many tears for his people that he was completely exhausted. He longed for a vacation yet did not take one. Instead, he continued to warn and preach and love and intercede for the people even though they didn’t accept his message or repent of their wicked ways.

Like Jesus, Jeremiah wept.

That’s how I want to be. Not a crusty old woman untouched by sin, but a tender hearted soul, weeping for the sinner.

No wonder Jeremiah wept at God’s message! There was severe judgement coming!

“Shall I not visit them for these things,” saith The Lord? “Shall not My soul be avenged for these things?
“I will make Jerusalem a heap of ruins, a den of jackals. I will make the cities of Judah desolate, without an inhabitant.”

Yet, God comforts His people. With every judgment, there’s always a way to escape.

Thus says the Lord : “Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom,

Let not the mighty man glory in his might,

Nor let the rich man glory in his riches;

But let him who glories glory in this,

That he understands and knows Me,

That I am the Lord, exercising lovingkindness,

judgment,

and righteousness in the earth.

For in these I delight,” says the Lord.
(Jeremiah 9:23, 24 NKJV)
