About

I’m Jewel Miller, but you don’t want to know that. You want to know what this blog is about. It’s about our world, our God, and our shared interests – like photography, cooking, motherhood and grandmothering, Bible study, poetry and things like

I love to write, to speak, to study the Word of God, to capture in photos, paint, fabrics, needle and thread, and in other mediums how this world appears to me. Then, I enjoy sharing my inspirations with you.

I have lived a rich, sometimes happy and sometimes painful life, but no matter whether the threads in the basket of my life have been tangled or useful, they have taught me valuable things – things about God mostly, why He created me, and where I fit into His Kingdom. If you’d like to learn about some of these lessons stick around, because sooner or later what’s really in my heart comes out in my work.

All that I do and think and write, I do to lift up Jesus Christ in praise and honor. To this end I blog.

Everything that I publish on this blog is my original work unless otherwise noted. Please contact me if you wish to use anything.

    1. Dear Heavenly Father, we (jesusmyjoy and I) praise You for being wise and holy, and for giving us your Son Who gives us victory over Satan and binds his hands for us. Thank You so much for leading jesusmyjoy to this site and we ask that you bless her in every way, physically, spiritually and emotionally. We praise you for lifting her up and strengthening her hands as she ministers to others, and we ask that you would take the ‘loaves and fish” that she has to offer and multiply them to feed thousands. We pray for the fruit of the Holy Spirit upon her and ask that all fear be erased from her heart. We place her needs before You now, trusting You completely to fill them according to Your will, and for your glory. We thank You for loving us and we love You, too. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.

  1. Hi Jewel, I did want to know your name and if it’s real, it’s beautiful , thank you for sharing on my Blog in February as I said there, I’m sorry but I missed it, I was very encouraged by your comment .

I agree with you and the Scriptures confirm, God does not cause us to suffer or have hardship but He does work everything out for our good.

Christian Love from both of us – Anne.

    1. Thank you for stopping by. And yes, Jewel is what my parents named me, in spite of my maternal grandfather’s objections. The only Jewel he ever knew was a white mule who wouldn’t do anything unless they poured water in her ears.

I love that line…I’m working on being that daring…funny how shy I am, even to myself! Thanks for the comment, it was encouraging!

    1. Thank you for your kind words. I can write better than I can talk. If you’d meet me you’d think I’m kind of shy, too. It doesn’t matter, though. Shyness is actually a gift, a kind of feminine grace that I believe God gives us for our protection.

      1. I believe shyness can also be a “masculine grace” for I too can write better than I talk. I wonder if the apostle Paul was the same way (2 Corinthians 10:1)? Anyway, I enjoy your blog – thanks for visiting ours.

      2. I like your thought about the Apostle Paul. We know for sure that Moses wasn’t comfortable speaking, but what a powerful personality he had! It goes to show that God enables us for the jobs He’s assigned us to. That includes evn grief, right? Thanks for all the encouraging “likes” on my site.
